Tokyo Shibamata 100K Ultra Marathon 5th of June, 2016

My 4th Ultra Marathon

My ultra journey started with Shibamara in 2013 1st 100K with about 10:20. 2nd was SAROMA Lake Ultra 2014 in 11:07. Third was SAROMA Lake 2015 in 12:53, visiting Road Station to collecting stamps for my son's requests. :) My fourth attempt this time, my goal is Sub10 hours.

My race has been started before the actual race begins.

I was not so aware of the time to get starting line in Shibamata. But in reality my run started from Shin-Shibamata Station. My challenge was to get to starting line from Shibamata station in 10 minutes. I did it as warm up with slow jog right after getting off from the first train in the early morning. Actually this was a good start with concentration.

It was raining at start. The rainy shower was quite feels good for runner. It's not so hot like the 1st Shibamara three years ago in 2013 it went up to almost close to 30 degrees. The rain fall untill 10-15 kilometers. Once we reaching to 20-25 kilometes the sun came out and turned sunny and hot with humidity. My pace was consistant with 5 minutes and 30 seconds per each kilometer and between 27-30 minutes per each 5km during the whole journey.

Meijin-san was catching me up at 25-30K along the way. We met again at rest station in the middle around 50K. Also Colin and myself ran together between 55-60K if I have not mistaken. It was really hot and humid weather giving us damage in each kilometer we went through. Unfortunately Colin had health incindent, so I feel very sorry for him that he could not finish. I hope his quick recovery.

60-90K I was trying to keep the pace as much as I could. Once I reached 90K suddenly I lost my rythm. Various minds came in and goes just like noise.. It is quite natural as human I think. Once you reach 90% close to the goal, some different thoughts comes up into your brain and makes you confused. For me it was about my work from tomorrow in Singapore.. Because I had to boarding to the airplane in several hours after this 100K Ultra Run. What a schedule, I'm not a professional athlete. That's what it is. What you need to do is just do it, get on the airplane. Very simple. :)

Finish!

I finished 100K in 9:33 net. I appreciate my body could have manage my condition during this journey. I really thank to my family.

Next Challenge.

100 K Ultra is good enough for me at this point in time I think. And I'm ready to go back to shorter distance like 10k, Half marathon as steps for marathon once again. I want to plan for my 40's to achive my best in marathon. This will bring my life new discovery during the preparation journey. Next challenge is Chicago Marathon 2016. Target is Sub3. In 2:57:00PB. Let's see how it goes.
