It’s not about the time. It’s about how you run Tokyo.

My last six months have been such a crucial moment. Loss of my most important person in my life. Plus changes roles in my work and injuries. September, October and November was the time to face all these difficulties to managing all of them. What I can say is with all the support of family, doctor, coaches and running friends brought me to the finish line 🏁 central Tokyo.

I started training training in June which was two months after finished Boston marathon. I still had planter facilitis and still have. I canceled NewYork marathon in September for personal reason which was really hard for me to recover and I still need more time for sure.

At that time I decided to run Tokyo marathon as charity runner in September. More than twenty of friends supported funding to the care house through me. How can I say. I just thought I got to do this and I want to complte his no matter what. So I did.

In the meantime, my job role has been changed. 90% of my communication shifted to global. This means life shift 8 hours time zone difference of life. Not really easy for person like me living in Japan and manage the balance under VUCA situation. I thought about the condition more than twice and decided to put this way. This is probably such a good time for examination. Because there is no such a consistent time anymore nowadays anyway. So decided to examine how I can manage this. The harder way, more that I can learn and get something out of this. So I did.

Managed my time as flexible as possible not like ordinaly office workers in Japan. For training, managed do stretching, core strength training and running in betweeen my everyday work. Managed 150Km to 230Km per month for running. Economic running which is less time better quality.

Only thing i managed badly was sleeping hours. i should have managed 8 hours per day at least. But I did like around 4hours to 6hours sleep which is not good at all. I should not have run Tokyo marathon under this condition if this is not charity run with support of 20 more than people.

With all the support eventually my motivation started change that finishing time is not so important anymore but more imporantly how I run with all the support of friends from running teams, family, even at my colleagues. So I decided to run Tokyo without showing any injuries to the finish line.

All the comments, yell outs cheered me up. I can say I could not do this without friends support! So thank you sooo much. Arigatougozaimashita.

This journey was started from the Boston, Tama river30K, Ekiden races in December, Chiba marine Half Marathon, Tokyo30Km trials in Jan. And Tokyo Charity team training were also such a great opportunities to meet and learn from coaches of Running Wellness and runners! All the great memories made this Tokyo 2018 such a beautiful day!

Cherrs! Let's keep enjoy running!
